Joeyy and The Try Tour

On Sunday September 22, 2024, a journey to Houston was made to attend the Joseph Green

“Try” Tour show at the House of Blues Bronze Peacock room. Accompanied by fellow KANM

members Frankie Polonsky and Ignacio Franke, I departed College Station at approximately 10:30am. The three of us wanted to get to Houston early enough to visit The Galleria mall (we ate at Shake Shack and all felt sick afterwards).

We lined up at the Bronze Peacock at around 5pm and cemented our place at the front of the line. The doors opened at 7:00pm and we managed to almost get right up against the barrier. DJ Shaq France came on stage around 7:40pm and began playing songs such as “PARANOIA INTRO” by Bladee and “Just Your Doll” by Snow Strippers. This caused a girl to throw up right next to us, but this didn't stop her from dancing.

Irish American rapper Laker came on at exactly 8:01 PM and his punctuality was greatly appreciated by the crowd. For the majority of his set he played songs from his newest album, CandyLand, but also played some of his more popular songs such as “Kyoto” and “If everything changed I know that you still feel the same”.

After Laker’s set ended there was a short delay before Joeyy came out. Upon his arrival people began pushing forward, trying their best to get as close as possible to the stage to get a better look at the man himself. As the name of the tour implied, he played most of the songs from his new album, Try. My favorite songs he performed from the album were “Overdose” and “TSA”. He also performed his most popular songs such as “Gout” and “Glitz”, which of course got the crowd very excited. Joeyy was a great performer and easily got the crowd moving to his beautiful tunes.

After Joeyy’s set ended, those with VIP meet and greet tickets lined up to meet both him and Laker and were given the “VIP concert memorabilia”, which included a shirt and a metal bracelet. We got to take multiple pictures with Joeyy and Laker as well as a polaroid that came with the VIP package. We were also able to get multiple things signed by Joeyy, and Laker and Ignacio got Joeyy to do a trick on his fingerboard. Overall amazing concert experience, TRY/10.

Special thanks to Frankie Polonsky for photos.
