ABOUT KANM

For over 50 years, KANM has been the voice of the student body at Texas A&M University, providing a platform for students to show their passion for music. We focus on promoting music that transcends commercial taste, committing ourselves to creating a one-of-a-kind, cutting-edge experience to our listeners from around the world.

The KANM community is home to hundreds of members, with each one expressing their appreciation for music in a unique way. All members are free to write pieces about their favorite albums or artists to be published on our Frequency blog or in our bi-annual zine, and our DJs have weekly shows with free-form formats that encompass a diverse range of genres, striving to curate the best playlists that offer both the latest and greatest in music.

We're always looking for people who love music like we do. Listen in and join our community at KANM.ORG.

OUR MISSION

As a fully student-run organization, we are devoted to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community, where people from all backgrounds can explore new sounds, connect with other music lovers, and become a part of something bigger. We believe that music has the power to transform lives and bring people together, and we aspire to use this power to grow a collective of creative individuals who embrace all forms of music.

Whether you're into the top 40 or the fringes of the underground, a seasoned music aficionado or starting to discover your taste, or just a person who appreciates a good song, we welcome you to join us in our pursuit of the best of the best in music.

MUSIC

KANM's programming is carefully hand-picked by real people. Our music directors receive submissions from members daily, and conduct Music Review Crew events, where members can suggest albums that they would like to hear on air - we're always growing our already vast collection of music that spans eras, styles, and traditions. We believe that this approach to curation allows for a uniquely eclectic listening experience.

We also carry an expansive selection of CDs in our in-station music library, and encourage members to explore its contents, hoping to incentivize real music discovery within our organization.

LIVE EVENTS & MEDIA

Through the support and dedication of our community, KANM has been able to establish a strong presence in Texas' growing live music scene. We host the bi-annual Save the Music show, which showcases emerging artists from the Bryan/College Station area and beyond, and regularly publish articles discussing the most exciting and important performances in Texas.

KANM also hosts in-house performances from local bands. This intimate setting allows for a deeper connection between artists and our community, fostering a sense of belonging and unity through the universal language of music. If you're an artist and you'd like to record a live session with us, fill out this form to get in touch.
