Bad Suns, Good Music
You may recognize Bad Suns from their 2014 summer anthem “Cardiac Arrest.” The catchy tune begged us all to dance, but the solid instrumentation and vocals kept us sticking around for more. Three years later, the band is still at it. Their sophomore album, Disappear Here, released in September of 2016, features infectious beats, honest lyrics, and a distinctive beachy rock sound. The band can do everything, from upbeat tracks like “Off She Goes,” ethereal melodies like “Swimming in the Moonlight,” and crooning songs like “Maybe We’re Meant to Be Alone.” Each song is grounded by strong beats but has plenty of embellishment thanks to bright guitar parts and smooth vocals. I was lucky enough to see Bad Suns in November on their Disappear Here tour. The energy they bring to their live shows is incredible. Not a single person in the room could keep from singing at the top of their lungs and dancing along. As great as Bad Suns sound on track, they sound even better live. They play in a way that seeps right into you and makes you feel like your heart is beating along with the drums. In the moments that they’re on stage, nothing else matters. They are pure fun, pure excitement, pure talent, and pure entertainment. Megan and I interviewed Chris from the band a few weeks ago. He, like his band, is super cool. Listen to the interview below! They’ll be in San Antonio on March 18th, and their show would make the perfect spring break mini-road trip. What better way to prepare yourself to return to classes than with a concert?
