An Interview with Avey Tare
Over the weekend, Erin and I had the opportunity to go to Club Dada in Dallas to see Avey Tare play a show in support of his new record,
Cows on Hourglass Pond
. Earlier on frequency, I reviewed this record. I was quite a fan of it and it is still one of my favorite records that have been released this year.
When we were at Club Dada, Dave Portner (aka Avey Tare) allowed us to do a short interview with him about,
Cows on Hourglass Pond
, horror movies, and the future of Animal Collective. I am quite thankful for this opportunity and the interview was a great time. It is attached to this article for anyone who is interested in listening to it.
The show was great as well. Avey played most of the songs from
Cows on Hourglass Pond
, some reworked versions of “When You Left Me” and “Heads Hammock” and a new song called “Enjoy The Change”. He was joined by fellow Animal Collective member, Josh Dibb (Deakin) and Jeremy Hyman. Listening to them bring these songs to life was an awesome experience as the show was incredibly intimate and we could see the whole thing happening right in front of us. A particularly special moment was the rendition of the album’s lead single “Saturdays (Again)” in which they broke down in the middle of the song and fantastically rebuilt its energy. If you haven’t heard it yet, go give
Cows on Hourglass Pond
a listen, and enjoy my interview with Avey Tare himself.
