Since One Direction split, we have not heard much music coming from member Louis Tomlinson. The music he has released has been super upbeat and catchy, but this week he dropped his fifth song titled, “Two of Us” that pays tribute to his mother that passed away about two years ago. The song is slower and more melodic compared to the music he has released since the band split up, and the song lyrics express how much he misses his mother. In his chorus he repeats the line, l’ll be living one life for the two of us, which acknowledges his attitude towards his mother’s passing that he plans to keep her memory alive and keep pushing through the pain. I think if Louis keeps releasing songs similar to this, he could become more relevant as a solo artist. I don’t really dig the other songs he has come out with but this one reveals his heart and could be relatable with his audience. I think this one is worth listening to and although it is more melodic you can still pick up on that strong pop sound he is going for. His song is currently at number 3 on the iTunes Charts so from this I can conclude that is a hit.

This song’s style sounds similar to some of the songs One Direction has put out there such as “You and I”, “Night Changes”, and “If I Could Fly.” I am not sure if this song is a part of an album Louis is working on or if it is only a single. Louis has yet to release an album while his former band members Zayn, Niall, and Harry have released albums. I believe it is taking Louis some time to figure out the style he is going for with his music, but I would love to see what he comes out with next and am optimistic he might come out with an album in the near future.
