KANM's Recommended Stream

KANM recommends Winamp for playing our MP3(Shoutcast) streams, but iTunes, Windows Media Player 9+, and many other audio players will play them, too. To play the AAC+ stream, you will need Winamp 5.04 or higher, something like VLC, or Windows Media Player with an AAC+ plug-in (available here).

If you have trouble playing KANM's streams on one of the above players, try the new KANM Web Player (Beta). Unless you're behind a work or school firewall that blocks internet audio streams, this should allow you to listen to KANM as long as you have a recent version of Flash installed. It's beta and it's intended as a last resort if you just can't get a regular media player to work with our streams.

If you subscribe to Suddenlink's B/CS Cable TV service, then you can easily hook into KANM Cable Radio (if you are on campus this will not work, please tune in to campus cable TV channel 88 instead). In fact, cable radio gives you a wide range of radio stations from outside the B-CS area (mostly Houston stations). It is a simple operation to split your cable signal between your television and your radio (see diagram). You'll need three things, and they're all cheap and available at your local Radio Shack:

  1. One short length coaxial cable
  2. One cable splitter (one input, two outputs)
  3. One 75-300 ohm transformer
Here's how: Take the cable out of the wall and screw it into the splitter. Attach the transformer to your coaxial cable. Run one cable to your TV and run the other cable to your stereo's antenna terminals.
