Album Review

Prince Royce, "Five"

March 3, 2017

Prince Royce has recently released his new album, Five. As the name implies, this is Royce’s fifth studio album. The album quickly went to number one on the itunes Latin charts, and has stayed there since it’s release on February 24th, 2017. The 27 year old bachata singer is a household name in the latin community and skyrocketed to fame with his “bachata” and “spanglish” take on the already hit song “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King. Prince Royce’s new album takes him back to his bachata roots after his last album, “Double Vision,” was his first attempt at a crossover into the English pop scene. The album includes very upbeat songs that one can dance to (perfect for that spring break playlist) like “Ganas Locas” and “Tumbao” as well as slow songs like “Amor Prohibido” and “X.” The new album also features well known pop artists such as Shakira, Zendaya (where we hear her sing in Spanish) & Chris Brown. There is a type of bachata for everyone on this album, and If you’re afraid of listening to this album because you think you won't understand you’re listening to, fear not! Prince Royce delivers mixes in “Spanglish” into most of his songs. The New York native has has been an opening act for Enrique Iglesias’ Euphoria Tour and Ariana Grande’s The Honeymoon Tour, and will embark on his fourth headlining tour later this year. Royce will kick off his summer tour at the end of June in Laredo, Texas at the Laredo Energy Arena and has four other Texas dates after that including Houston and Dallas. Thursday, June 29th - Laredo, Texas Friday, June 30th - Hidalgo, Texas Saturday, July 1st - Houston, Texas Sunday, July 2nd - Dallas, Texas Thursday, July 6th - El Paso, Texas To find out more about Prince Royce, follow him on his social medias below!
