We were able to have an interview with Theo Ellis from Wolf Alice! Wolf Alice is a UK Alternative Rock band who has been nominated for Brit Award for British Breakthrough Act and a Grammy for Best Rock Performance. Wolf Alice have been on tour for about 3 months, going back and forth from the UK to America, trying to break through into the American music scene! They just performed today at Shaky Knees in Atlanta, Georgia! Q: How did yall meet each other and how did yall form as a band? Theo: I first met Ellie at a house party on a trampoline when we were young and then we met Joel and Joff years later at a mic night for singers and songwriters. The band just kind of formed after that, naturally. Q: What do your friends and family react when you said you were chasing your dreams? Theo: Both of my parents are actors! Really supportive, I wanted to leave school when I was about 17 years old but my parents wanted me to stay and finish so that I would be able to go out and follow my dreams after getting an education. Q: Biggest inspiration to write songs? Theo: Everyday conversations, someone’s look, just everyday things really. I'm inspired by artists when they change in look, sound or have some success in the music scene after a lot of hard work. Q: Who is someone you would DREAM of performing with? Theo: Miley Cyrus! I love her, she is just really creative and has an amazing voice. But not sure if we would collaborate with anyone at the moment, we like just being with the band touring and going to music festivals. Q: What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Theo: We haven’t had any big challenges, other than in the beginning, the biggest challenge for a new band is getting the first album the way you want it. Coming up with the vision for your album and making it a reality, executing and achieving how you want each specific song to sound. Touring has been a challenge as well, we have been on tour for about 3 months now and it takes a toll on you. Q: How did you feel when you heard you were nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Performance? Theo: Couldn’t believe it! Found out through the producer! Even went to the Grammy’s and it was something we never really thought about before, because in the UK we think about the Brit Awards and things like that. Even when we were nominated for a Brit for British Breakthrough Act we couldn’t believe it! Q: How do you guys feel or react when you about performing at Shaky Knees? Theo: Excited! Ready to come and break through America! We have been a few times for things like Coachella but we are excited to come back for sure. Q: Would you rather have an endless amount of money or endless time? Theo: Loads of money! One night out from 6 pm to 6 am!! Then I would invite everyone to come and party! Q: Do vegetarians eat animal crackers? Theo: Yeah they definitely eat animal crackers! Q: If you knew a pancake apocalypse was coming, how would you prepare? Theo: Lie down and die! Already given up!
