Album Review

Flor Friday

If you have been searching for a band that doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of the pop music sphere, you can stop searching because Flor is just what you need.

November 20, 2015

If you have been searching for a band that doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of the pop music sphere, you can stop searching because Flor is just what you need. This LA-based four-piece band offers a refreshing original take on indie-pop music. They have a unique sound, but they have been compared to the likes of Years & Years and Halsey, who they have toured with, by the way. If that is not enough to convince you to give them a listen, their aesthetic is also a visual treat that you are sure to enjoy. Simply put, these guys know how to create art. They recently released Sights & Sounds, a compilation of all their work so far along with a new song. This album brings listeners a mix of indie-pop with enchanting, stirring melodies, perfect for anytime of day, but especially for early morning or late night listening. The pounding, 80s-inspired synth and catchy chorus lines will have you captivated in no time. Each song was written, recorded, and made solely by the band, giving these songs a special touch. The first track, “Heart,” is an upbeat motivating start to the album, by the second chorus you are likely to already be humming along. The infectious sounds of this album will leave you wanting more and have you “Back Again,” as the last track is titled. Keep your eyes on this band because they are bound for greatness. -Kathryn Farley
