O Holy Night - ROCK EDITION! \m/

This came into the station today, and I must say… I think this may be the greatest Christmas song ever. Trust me. In the next ten years, THIS will be what we play while we are decorating our Christmas tree.
And… DODGE CHARGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ……I don’t know why, though. I guess it makes it more manly. But what does manliness have to do with Christmas?
ENJOY.

The Onion Writes the Truth?
Sunday, November 16th, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments
Okay so its not a real story, and yes bits of it are funny. But seriously, this is a really well written article that sums up whats wrong with the world today quite well.Granted it was written shortly after 9/11, but….
Just read it,

and then there is this (taking both together really helps one understand the meaning I’ve found in this song, perhaps others feel it means something else. What do you think?):

Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert DVD
Friday, October 31st, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments
So it appears that the forces to be, Chloe, might not put my recent masterpiece, my Hannah Montana DVD Review into Frequency. Hopefully she reconsiders but those of you who want to read it here it is.
What can only be considered the most anticipated event of all time was finally released to the general public in DVD form. The biggest question had to be, would the DVD, like the theatre release, be in 3D? Well the answer to that is yes. All though the behind the scene cut scenes were not in 3D the entire concert was. But just in case the 3D atmosphere was a little too much for some it also could be watched in normal 2D as well. Now to the full review.
The DVD started off as expected with Hannah Montana performing “Rock Star”. This is also the opening track on the CD release of the concert, and right away we see Hannah Montana control the stage. All though she does some choreography, she concentrates more on singing and let’s the backup dancers do the dances. Right way this is refreshing from your typical teeny bopper singer and you the audience member get the feeling that this is truly a concert and not just a show. After “Rock Star” there is a behind the scenes cut of her warming up. There are several of these throughout the DVD which gives the audience a better feel of what was put in to make the show happen. For instance during “I Got Nerve” they do a sort of cheerleader style lift of Miley and almost dropped her in a previous show. You see them rearrange how they do the stunt and make it safer for her in a cut scene before the song. Then when the song starts you get to see the stunt they were working on and how they were able to pull it off. This really pulls you into the DVD and you look out and further more really appreciate that stunt that you probably would have just over looked otherwise. After “I Got Nerve” Hannah Montana asks the crowd if the Jonas Brothers are still in the house and to our pure delight they join her on the stage for “We Got The Party”. This is one of those rare concert moments that you only experience on tour that we the audience get to experience as well. How many times have we been to shows and get that little something extra as the openers will jump on stage to help on a song? Well since tickets were so expensive to the Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds Tour, this gives us the experience as if we were really there even if we didn’t get to make it out to the real show.
After “We Got the Party” Hannah Montana leaves the stage and the Jonas Brothers play “When you look me in the eyes” and “Year 3000”. The boys, like Miley, truly command the stage for being at such a young age. Honestly my first impression was that they sounded a lot like Hanson did in there early days, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Like Hanson the Jonas Brothers play their own instruments and you get a honest feel of authenticity in the music they play which this day and age is a more and more a rare feeling in music.
Once “Year 3000” is finished the Jonas Brothers leave and then Miley Cyrus, as herself no longer as Hannah Montana, comes to the stage. Again her confidence for being so young is truly amazing. Her command of the stage is at a level usually only held for veterans who have been in the business for years. She starts off with “Start all Over” which is a good song and speaks of what she is trying to do with her career. It was a good pick that the first song you see Miley perform is “Start All Over”, telling the crowd, “You’ve known me as Hannah Montana but now it’s time you know me as who I really am, Miley Cyrus.” The next song is her smash hit “See You Again” and she really gets the crowd going with this one. One of the best moments is her performance of “I Miss You” which she sits down with a guitar and soulfully sings. Before the song starts there is a cut scene talking about the song and how it was about her grandfather who had recently passed. You really get a feeling that she is letting you in to her and again more of a distinction between Miley and her alter-ego Hannah Montana. The show ends with “The Best of Both Worlds” being performed by Miley, not Hannah Montana. This was a very wise choice since the song itself is her signature song, by performing it as Miley she is telling the crowd, “You have had me as Hannah and as Miley and the best is yet to come.”
The overall DVD is very good, the quality and music is truly enjoyable for people of all ages. All though the 3D aspect takes a minute to get used to I think that it really does add to the feel that you yourself are at the concert and experiencing what the people there experienced. A disappointment was the lack of some of the songs that were released on the Live CD such as, “East Northumberland High” and “Good and Broken” (however “Good and Broken” was released on the Wal-mart release of the DVD as bonus material). The disappointment mostly comes from the fact that usually the DVD is the opportunity to show more than the CD was able to and not the other way around, but we did get “I Miss You” and the two Jonas Brothers Songs on the DVD so it wasn’t really an overall loss. But alas I digress, again over all very enjoyable and if you aren’t familiar with Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus before this DVD it is a good way to amerce yourself in all that she has done.

Scarlett Johansson CD Far From Shit
Friday, October 31st, 2008 | Uncategorized | 1 Comment
So I read a lot of reviews of the new Scarlett Johansson CD, Anywhere I lay my head, recently and one thing is common about them. They are all fairly negative. I don’t think this is fair and I believe she is getting a lot of unwarranted crap for this because of her acting career. Now crossing over from film to music has become more of a novelty with “actress” (and by actress I mean media whore) Paris Hilton, and Hedi Montag both have CD’s coming out. Now clearly Paris is not treading new waters on her on her debut Paris and lets be honest Hedi Montag is a sack of shit. Scarlett Johansson however is trying something very unique, her album is all covers of Tom Waits songs. She is introducing Tom Waits to groups that have never heard his music and giving her interpretation to those who are familiar with his music. With another release by Terrance Howard, we might be seeing a new era of crossover artists that are in fact not shitty.

PS: I’m not just backing Johansson because i want to bone her, all though i do want to bone her.
